eyeFeeds is the default RSS feeds reader. You can run eyeFeeds by opening the "Network" menu of eyeDock (on the top of the desktop) and selecting "RSS Feed Reader", or by clicking the "eyeFeeds" icon in the "Software" window accessible from the desktop.

eyeFeeds is made up of 3 panels:
  • the feeds tree on the left, displays your feeds in a tree
  • the items list on the top right, displays the fetched items from the selected feed
  • the content area on the bottom right, displays the content of the selected item

Add a feed

  • Click on the "Add feed" button in the toolbar, or right-click on an element of the tree then choose "Add feed"
  • Enter the URL of the feed
  • Select the folder where you want to place your feed.
  • You can optionally enter a name for the feed (in this case the default one fetched from the target site will be replaced by yours)
  • Click on the "Add feed" button to validate

Add a folder

  • Click on the "Add folder" button in the toolbar
  • Select the folder where you want to place your folder
  • Type the name of the new folder
  • Click on the "Add folder" button to validate

Edit a feed or a folder

  • Click on an element of the tree
  • Click on the "Edit" button in the toolbar
  • You can also directly right-click on the element of the tree and choose "Edit" in the context menu
  • Modify the informations of the element
  • Click on the "Apply" button

Remove a feed or a folder

  • Left-click on an element of the tree
  • Click on the "Delete" button in the toolbar
  • You can also directly right-click on the element of the tree and choose "Remove" in the context menu
  • Confirm by clicking "Ok"

Read an item

  • Click on a feed in the tree
  • The latest items from the feed are loaded in the items list
  • Click on an item of the list to display its content in the content area
  • Double-click on the item of the list to open eyeNav to the source page
You can watch or listen to the enclosures element of an item by clicking on the corresponding link at the bottom of the content text.

Refresh the items

  • While displaying the items of a feed, click the "Refresh" button to force the application fetching the latest items from the source site.



Import/Export Feeds

The import/export features use the OPML format which could then be used with Google Reader, Yahoo!, and a lot more of feeds readers.

Import

  • Click on the "Import" button in the toolbar
  • Select a file by pressing the "Select file" button and choosing a file in your eyeOS account
  • Select the destination folder in your bookmarks (left tree)
  • Enter a name for the folder to create, or leave blank to import all the feeds directly into the previously selected folder
  • Click "Import", all the feeds found in the file will be imported to your bookmarks

Export

  • Click on the "Export" button in the toolbar
  • Choose a folder and a name for your output file
  • Click "Save", the specified file will be created and will contain all your feeds
