If you connect directly to the internet or only going to use it on a local network please skip this.
Next If you Are connect through A router or hub(not a cabal or DSL Modem) we need to set up port forwarding. This is really simple to do! There are to many router to show you how to do them all but we do have a ex. of a Linksys WRT54G V5
Or if you will look at your routers name and Model number You can go to the makers web site you may find what you need there or what most people do go here portforward.com we are not talking about buying anything just to be clear

Get a Url

Get a Url

For now we can only get to our eyeOS by typing in our IP address. it would be nice to have a url!
What we have now looks something like this http: //xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx(x = 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,or 0). Now that can be hard to remember and If you want others to get to your EyeOS like family and or friends it is better to have some thing like http: //myeyeos .org. so we need a DNS Server
Getting your own url is really easy and can even be free!
To see a example just click on this link Get Your Own Url. Below is a list of some DNS Servers as well.
FreeDNS, DynDNS, No-IP, ZoneEdit, Yi.org, DYNU, DtDNS, CO.CC
